TikTok has no official chat API, so this takes one extra step. It is free, and you only do it once.

Short answer

To read TikTok LIVE chat into stream games you need a free EulerStream API key: create an account at eulerstream.com, copy the key from your dashboard, paste it into StreamWarm with your TikTok @username, and add the generated link to OBS as a browser source.

Why TikTok needs an extra step

YouTube publishes an official API for reading live chat, so StreamWarm connects to it for you and there is nothing to set up. TikTok does not publish one at all.

Every tool that reads TikTok LIVE chat — ours included — goes through a third-party service that maintains the connection. EulerStream is the most established of these, and its free tier is genuinely free: no card, no trial, 25 simultaneous connections, which is far more than one streamer will ever use.

Using your own free key rather than a shared one means your connection is never competing with other streamers, and it costs you nothing.

What you need before you start

Three things, all of which you probably already have.

  • A TikTok account that can go LIVE
  • OBS Studio (or any software with browser sources)
  • An active StreamWarm membership

Step 1 — Create a free EulerStream account

Go to eulerstream.com and sign up. The Community tier is free forever and does not ask for payment details.

  1. Open eulerstream.com and choose to sign up
  2. Register with Google or email
  3. Confirm your email address if prompted
  4. You will land on the dashboard — no plan selection needed, the free tier is automatic

Step 2 — Copy your API key

The key is what lets the game read chat on your behalf. It appears in your dashboard once your account exists.

  1. In the EulerStream dashboard, open the API Key or Dashboard section
  2. Click to reveal or create your key
  3. Copy the whole string
  4. Keep it private — treat it like a password

Do not show this key on stream. Anyone who has it can use your free allowance. If it leaks, regenerate it in the EulerStream dashboard and paste the new one into StreamWarm.

Step 3 — Set it up in StreamWarm

Everything else happens on your members page.

  1. Go to streamwarm.com/play and sign in
  2. Under Create your OBS link, switch the platform toggle to TikTok LIVE
  3. Choose the game you want to run
  4. Enter your TikTok @username — the account you go live from
  5. Paste your EulerStream API key into the key field
  6. Click Generate my OBS link and copy the link

Step 4 — Add it to your streaming software

Two routes depending on what you broadcast with. Both take a couple of minutes.

  1. TikTok LIVE Studio: add a Link Source (called a Web layer in some versions) and paste your StreamWarm URL, then set the size
  2. OBS: Sources → + → Browser, paste the URL, set Width and Height
  3. In OBS, untick "Shutdown source when not visible"
  4. In OBS, untick "Refresh browser when scene becomes active"
  5. Position the game in your scene

Those two unticked boxes matter in OBS. Leave them on and the game restarts every time you change scenes, losing scores and the chat connection.

If the game runs poorly in LIVE Studio

TikTok LIVE Studio uses an older embedded browser engine that can struggle with animated, canvas-based overlays. If the game stutters, renders oddly or fails to load, this is almost always why — the same link in OBS or an ordinary browser tab will look fine.

The fix is to compose in OBS and send the finished picture to LIVE Studio as a camera.

  1. In OBS, set your canvas to 1080×1920 for vertical TikTok
  2. Add the StreamWarm game as a Browser Source at the same size
  3. Add your webcam and anything else you want
  4. Click Start Virtual Camera in the OBS Controls panel
  5. Leave OBS running, open TikTok LIVE Studio
  6. Add a Camera source and choose OBS Virtual Camera
  7. Go live from LIVE Studio as normal

TikTok gates the virtual camera behind a usage requirement — commonly going live from LIVE Studio three times for 25 minutes each, with validation taking up to 48 hours. Mobile streams do not count toward it. Use the Link Source route until it unlocks.

Step 5 — Go live (this is the part most people get wrong)

Two separate things have to happen, and it is easy to miss the second one.

Chat reaching the game works however you broadcast — EulerStream reads it from TikTok using your username. But your viewers only see the game if the overlay is composited into your video, and that only happens when you broadcast from desktop software. If you go live from the phone app, the game will read chat perfectly and your audience will never see it.

  • TikTok phone app — chat works, but viewers cannot see the overlay
  • TikTok LIVE Studio (Windows) — official desktop app, signs in natively, no stream key needed
  • OBS + stream key — full control, and the only desktop route on Mac

TikTok restricts LIVE access, typically to accounts with 1,000+ followers who are 18+ and in good standing. Desktop and RTMP access are gated the same way. If the Go LIVE option does not appear for you on desktop, that is an account eligibility issue rather than a setup problem.

Going live with OBS and a stream key

If you are using OBS rather than LIVE Studio, TikTok issues you an RTMP address and key per session.

  1. On desktop, open tiktok.com and choose Go LIVE
  2. Set a title, then Save & Go LIVE
  3. Copy the Server URL (usually rtmp://push.live.tiktok.com/live) and the Stream Key
  4. In OBS: Settings → Stream → Service: Custom, paste both, and apply
  5. Make sure your StreamWarm browser source is in the scene
  6. Click Start Streaming in OBS

Stream keys expire after roughly two hours, so you will generate a fresh one each session. Your StreamWarm link does not change — set that up once and forget it.

Test it without any of that first

Before wrestling with RTMP, confirm the chat connection works. This takes two minutes and isolates the part most likely to need adjusting.

  1. Go live from your phone as normal
  2. On your computer, open your StreamWarm game link in an ordinary browser tab
  3. Type a message into your own TikTok chat from another device
  4. If it registers in the game, the integration works — now set up OBS

Troubleshooting

Almost every problem is one of four things.

  • "TIKTOK NOT CONFIGURED" — the username or key did not save. Regenerate your link in StreamWarm.
  • "TIKTOK RECONNECTING…" repeatedly — usually the username is wrong. Use just your @username, not a full profile URL.
  • Connected but no messages — check you are actually live, and that chat is enabled on the broadcast.
  • "DAILY LIMIT REACHED" — you have used your plan's streaming allowance for the day. It resets at midnight Pacific.
